Hike 2.3 miles to a split. Go straight 2.1 miles to Gertrude Lake and Tyler Lake or turn left and go 2.2 miles to Maud Lake. Continue 1.1 miles to Rockbound Pass (8650) then .3 to Doris Lake. Turn left and go 1.3 miles to Lois Lake or go straight 1.4 miles to China Flat
Along the way, you will pass Beauty Lake after .5 miles. When climbing up to Rockbound Pass, notice the colored strata to the South |

From Placerville, drive east 36 miles on Hwy 50 and make a left turn on Wright's Lake Rd. From Lake Tahoe, drive west on Hwy 50 to Echo summit. Continue 8 miles and turn right on Wright's Lake Rd.
Wilderness permits are needed to hike in this area. Day users can usually get them at the Wright's Lake kiosk or the trailhead. Overnighters must get them elsewhere.
When you reach Wright's Lake, turn left just past the kiosk and continue around the lake to the Rockbound trailhead. Limited parking exists here. If no parking available, you will need to reverse directions and park in the parking lot just before the kiosk.
