| Round-trip mileage: 9.2 - 14.6 miles |
| Difficulty: 2 ( 1=Easy,2=Moderate,3=Strenuous ) |
| Description: |
| Day hikers would need to push this. It works well for a short pack trip. Many destinations can be reached once you get to Doris and Lois Lakes. Each Lake has good camping sites. Swimming is good but cold in both. Fishing is good in Lois Lake and other lakes in the vicinity, like Lake Schmidell and Clyde Lake
|
| Directions: |
From Placerville, drive east 36 miles on Hwy 50 and make a left turn on Wright's Lake Rd. From Lake Tahoe, drive west on Hwy 50 to Echo summit. Continue 8 miles and turn right on Wright's Lake Rd.
Wilderness permits are needed to hike in this area. Day users can usually get them at the Wright's Lake kiosk or trailhead. Overnighters must get them elsewhere.
When you reach Wright's Lake, veer left just past the kiosk and continue around the lake to the trailhead.
