| Difficulty: 3 ( 1=Easy,2=Moderate,3=Strenuous ) |
| Description: |
There are 3 main options from this trailhead.
Both Sylvia Lake and Lyons Lake are quite swimmable with nice views. Sylvia Lake is a prime starting point to climb Pyramid Peak.
If you choose to swim in Bloodsucker Lake, you might encounter leeches. I choose to pass. |
| Directions: |
From Placerville, drive east 36 miles on Hwy 50 and make a left turn on Wright's Lake Rd. From Lake Tahoe, drive west on Hwy 50 to Echo Summit. Continue 8 miles and turn right on Wright's Lake Rd. Drive 4 miles to this trailhead on the right.
Wilderness permits are needed to hike in this area. Day users can usually get them at the Wright's Lake trailheads. Overnighters must get them elsewhere.
